CUMULUS MEDIA | MELBOURNE is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated General Sales Manager to drive revenue in our market.  The General Sales Manager provides leadership to station’s local sales efforts by giving direction, training and feedback to sales team.  Assist account executives in prospecting, developing and maintaining direct, digital, NTR and new business, as well as local agency business, to assure established sales goals are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a sales plan that will meet station’s revenue goals with emphasis on customer-focused selling to direct, new direct, vertical categories, digital, NTR, station features and major account sales
  • Identify, recruit, train, coach, manage and develop high-performance Sales talent and build a successful team to ensure continued top-line growth
  • Maintain an ongoing recruitment effort to ensure top quality team, always having a bench of 3 or more candidates
  • Attend high profile account presentations; provide coaching and leadership to sales team
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with Sales Team members to evaluate pending business for conversion and note in CRM accordingly
  • Participate and lead Sales staff meetings and training sessions
  • Manage inventory and reporting in Stratus/Wide Orbit
  • Manage administrative functions connected with forecasting revenue, rate, pricing and order approvals
  • Actively participate in business & community associations with the intention of developing extensive relationships with local influencers and decision makers
  • Develop and build relationships with clients by providing quality customer service
  • Lead communication with other departments to assure quality service when placing orders and arranging promotions
  • Oversee special event sales
  • Provide managerial assistance in local and national rate negotiations, sales plans and budgeting
  • Develop creative, solution oriented, customer-focused revenue programs and ancillary sales projects
  • Oversee and manage expenses of the Sales organization

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in broadcast sales, sales management and mentoring experience preferred with a proven track record of success in the radio industry
  • Proficient in all aspects of radio and digital sales, including use of quantitative/qualitative research, event development, and multiple-platform/integrated sales expertise
  • Familiar with the management of CRM systems, budget procedures, daily sales accountability and recognition programs, inventory management and collections procedures
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or related field is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, social networking platforms
  • Highly developed training and coaching skills including; skills in organization, delegating, interviewing and motivating sales people
  • Demonstrate high energy level and achievement-oriented attitude toward sales, sales training and education, and client relations

  • Able to identify client business needs by gaining a deep understanding of their goals, objectives and processes as well as their external environment including key market and consumer trends to proactively develop customized advertising solutions to meet client objectives
  • Deliver effective sales presentations; negotiation and closing
  • Excel at prospecting and aggressively seeking new clientele by networking, cold calling, canvassing, referrals or other means to build and maintain a full pipeline of sales prospects
  • Have strong listening and presentation skills and the ability to quickly build lucrative client relationships
  • Follow all station procedures for preparing orders, resolving billing issues, submitting regular reports regarding sales, pipeline lists, forecasts and competitive analysis

Core Competencies:

  • MUST be computer savvy with a strong working knowledge of Power Point, Microsoft Word, Excel, and able to navigate online data systems and forms
  • MUST have a background of a min of 1-2 years of outside digital media sales including but not limited to SEO & SEM, Social Media advertising, digital video advertising, programmatic display, geo-fencing, email marketing, website sales, and text media marketing
  • Proficiency in prospecting and aggressively seeking new clientele by networking, cold-calling, canvassing and referrals
  • Learn the customer’s business by gaining a deep understanding of their goals, objectives and processes as well as their external environment including key market and consumer trends

CUMULUS MEDIA | Melbourne is in search of a hard working Part-Time Promotions Assistant with the potential to be on-air.  If you are looking to get a foot in the door to the radio industry, have an outgoing personality and have a passion for radio, this is a great opportunity for you!  This job will consist of general office duties as well as going out into the community to interact with listeners and promote our stations. For the right person this could offer the opportunity to host a weekend show on one or more radio stations in Melbourne.

The Promotions Assistant travels around the area and represents the Cumulus stations at specified events, acting as Brand Ambassadors. This includes set-up and breakdown of pop-up tents and tables, hanging banners, interacting with listeners and registering people to win prizes. To join the team, you must be able to lift 50 pounds, and be on your feet for extended periods of time.

In the office, the Promotions Assistant handles prize fulfillment, event preparation, contest building, prize sheet creation, brainstorming new ideas and other promotion-oriented tasks. The position also includes running errands and helping with vehicle maintenance.

  • Create e-blasts, social media posts & website posts; review promotional information and graphics
  • Inventory and maintenance of prize closet, calendars, events for current and upcoming promotions
  • Assisting the Promotions and Marketing Department with projects as needed in the office
  • Assist with vehicle inspections, fuel and coordinating maintenance
  • Ability to drive station vehicles with attached trailer
  • Maintain and storage of station equipment

Qualifications:

  • No experience necessary, however Customer Service experience helpful
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Reliable; have a flexible schedule and be available to work at least 20 hours per week, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • May require lifting or moving up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Outgoing, energetic, detail-oriented and responsible
  • Proficient using computers and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Multi-tasking abilities
  • Event experience a plus
  • Strong Social Media skills with sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
